Saturday, January 18, 2014:

Jesus said: “My people, I called Levi, the tax collector, to follow Me, and later he was named Matthew. When I had dinner with him and his friends, some Pharisees criticized Me for eating with tax collectors and sinners. Then I told them that sick people need a doctor, and I came to heal sinners, and not the self-righteous. This is why I call sinners to come to Me for Confession, so I can forgive their sins and put My grace into their souls. In the parable of the Pharisee and the publican, the publican beat his breast and he said: ‘Forgive me Lord, for am a sinner.’ The Pharisee thanked Me for his possessions, and he was grateful that he was not a sinner like the publican. The publican went home justified in seeking My mercy and forgiveness. The Pharisee was too proud and received very little merit for his visit. You need to be humble, and do not think that you are better than anyone else, because you are all equal before Me.”
